IKEA Hack – Entertainment Center
This IKEA Hack for the perfect entertainment center in my living room was made possible using metal indoor/outdoor cabinets. I have been looking everywhere for the perfect narrow piece of furniture that still had plenty of storage, and these IKEA cabinets fit perfectly.

So we built our “tiny house” this year and the main thing I am looking for is storage, storage, and more storage. Like I said, I have been on the hunt for months now in search of the perfect entertainment center that was narrow enough to fit in our cozy living room, but also wasn’t so narrow that there was no storage room. Which is why the Kolbjorn cabinets are perfect.
How I Hacked my IKEA Hack
As you can see, there is plenty of room inside the cabinets for electronics, games, records…if that is your thing. The best part is the back can be left off so you can easily access the power outlets, and let all your electronics live inside. Then you can just close the doors and hide the clutter.

To hack these indoor-outdoor cabinets, and turn them into the perfect entertainment center, I simply followed the instructions provided. Except one thing, I didn’t assemble and attach the back of the cabinets.
Well I guess technically two things, I purchased two of the Kolbjorn cabinets and placed them together to fit perfectly in my space. The Kolborn line at IKEA has several different pieces that you can stack and place together to make the perfect layout for your home. Whether you use them inside or outside, there are so many possibilities.
Matchy, Matchy IKEA Hack
What originally drew me to the Kolbjorn IKEA cabinet was the color. I am a sucker for beige, and love the tone of this piece. So much so, that when I got it home, I realized I already has a matching piece from IKEA in the same color.

My beloved laptop stand, that I have had for years, is the same color and metal as my new console tables. I am so excited at how they all go together in my living room. This laptop stand is very loved in my family. We regularly use it for eating on the sofa, as an extra side table, playing cards, the list goes on. I highly recommend.
Functional and Cute
I love that my record player now has the perfect home. I have been getting so much more use out of it now that it is on display, front and center. My absolute favorite part about my new entertainment center is I now have a place to add favorite décor pieces.
I pulled out a lot of my grandparents knick-knacks that they collected over the years. Yes, their ashtrays are some of my most special pieces. Having a home for these things brings me so much joy, and sets the vibe in my cozy little house. Having memories on display is one of the best ways to make your house feel like a home.
