Thrift Store Haul

Thrifting is one my favorite things to do, and I have really been missing a good weekend thrift store haul. I usually try to pop in to my favorite stores, at least once a month, to see what I can find. Mostly, I browse aimlessly, with nothing in particular in mind, and if something pops out that I can’t live without I take it home.

Other times I have something I am looking for, or at least have a room in mind I am shopping for. This past weekend, I had my master bedroom in mind, and I was on a mission.

What Did I Find?

The first thing I spotted was a big gold mirror. I have been really into mirrors lately, and there are so many ways to use them. This mirror was on a top shelf, and man did I have a time getting my hands on it. But when I finally got this heavy thing down I knew she was coming home with me.

You can really see the color and detail of the mirror in the picture below. Which also has my next find, a perfectly neutral portrait with the perfect gold frame. I love the way they complement each other.

Picture and Gold Mirror

These two items really set the tone for what I was looking for going forward. A classy vintage vibe, neutral pieces with gold accents. Right away I found another, very similar, but smaller gold mirror, and another picture.

Decisions, Decisions

The picture was one of those pick up and put back down, investigate multiple times, kind of pieces. I was really not a fan of the frame, but I decided I could paint it gold.

Shame on me for not getting a shot before I painted the frame, but that little green potted plant in the picture just could not be passed up. At the next thrift store, I spotted a green metal tray with gold details that perfectly matched the little green plant in my picture, and also my master bedroom walls.

What Item Tried to Ruin My Marriage?

I also picked up a coffee table book with a cute little picture on the cover, a couple of really nice throw pillows, and a gold blanket that could have ruined my marriage. Long story short, tag said dry clean only, Kelsy doesn’t read tags, Kelsy’s husband now has brown socks. It’s a good thing he loves me.

Thrift Store Haul

Minus the <minor> laundry issue, I would say I had a very successful thrift store haul. Stick around to see how I used all the items above to give my master bedroom a makeover, budget friendly of course.

What’s Happening Next?

I have one item, from my haul this weekend, that I will be doing a DIY makeover on. Can you guess what I have in mind for this vase? You will have to wait and see. πŸ™‚
