These 3 Untold Places to Search for Real Estate that made all the difference in my house hunting process. Buying a home, or finding land, can be stressful. I remember searching every real estate website I could find, looking for our perfect place. And I could never settle on the right one, or someone else had already beat me to it.
Looking back now, none of those places were right for me, but it was definitely discouraging at times. Below I will let you in on a few of my secret places to search for real estate. Keep reading to find out.
Extra! Extra! Read All About It!
My first untold gem for finding real estate is the Newspaper. I know, newspapers seem to be a thing of the past, and for a lot of people they are. I can tell you I don’t go out and buy one on the regular, but isn’t that what we are looking for?? Ways that nobody else is thinking of. Exactly.
My grandmother actually found The Four Acre Farm reading the newspaper. The farm had not ever been listed on the internet, so I would likely never have stumbled across it, and this is the case for a ton of local listings. So grab a newspaper, and get to looking for your perfect piece of land, or your dream home.
Get Social For Your Real Estate Search
Sometimes when looking for real estate you have to get social…Social Media that is. I was able to find our current house in town on Facebook! We had given up on even looking for a house. I just knew my husband and I would be living separately with our parents for the rest of our lives, and there was nothing out there for us. Dramatic..I know. But lo and behold a friend shared a “for sale by owner” listing on Facebook, and the rest is history.
Since finding our home, I have noticed tons of listings on Facebook and Facebook Marketplace. Most of these listings are not even listed on any real estate search engines. You could even make a post that you are looking for real estate. A lot of times your friends and family can help join in on the search. Think of it as a fun game. : )
Get Off The Beaten Path When Searching for Real Estate
My last untold way to find real estate is to go for a drive. That’s right.. get in your car, and drive around looking in neighborhoods you like, or areas you are interested in. There might be a place “for sale by owner” that you could miss by not physically driving by. Or you may even find a new listing before it makes it to a realtor’s website.
