1. Clean Vertical Garden Planting

Growing Vertically has many garden benefits. Not only will it save you space but can also be beneficial to your vegetables. Growing vertically will not only save you time keeping your garden clean, but can also keep your vegetables cleaner as well.

Growing plants on the ground can really makes a mess, especially in our sandy garden soil. I hate bringing a huge basket of dirty veggies in and having to scrub them forever before I can eat them. By trellising your plants you can keep them up off the ground, and keep them out of the dirt and sand.

2. Use Trellises to Grow Vertically

I am sure your first question is how to grow vertically. Well, the answer is super easy because many plants will naturally trellis.

All you have to do is provide them a structure to grow on. My husband and I built a cute DIY Garden Trellis that our garden plants love.

I was determined to have a garden arch to train some of our vining plants, and I just happened to have a leftover piece of lattice.

I am all about using what I have, and saving money. So we made this simple arch using things we had around the farm.

3. Vertically Garden Planting to Discourage Pests

Growing vertically can also help keep vegetables up off the ground and away from pests that may try to snack on your veggies. Being up off the ground will make it more of a challenge for any bugs, insects, or tiny critters like rabbits to get directly to plants.

Using store bought trellis to vertically train our raspberry and blackberry bushes has helped keep the fruit off the ground. This discourages the rabbits from eating our plants and fruit, but also makes picking the berries so much easier.
