Easy DIY Garden Arch

This Easy DIY Garden Arch Trellis is the perfect way to spruce up your garden on a budget. This Arch is not only pretty, but functional too. You can use it as a garden arch trellis to keep your vining plants contained, all the while making your garden look like a backyard oasis.

I was determined to have a garden arch this year to train some of our vining plants, and I just happened to have a leftover piece of lattice. I am all about using what I have, and saving money. So we made this simple arch using things we had around the farm.

What Supplies Will You Need for a Garden Arch?

First of all, you need to gather your supplies. You will need four 7-foot t-posts, two 10-foot half inch pieces of PVC pipe, one 4 ft. X 8 ft. sheet of vinyl lattice, zip ties, and metal fence tie wraps.

Items to Make Your Life Easier when Building this DIY Garden Arch

A fence post driver will make your life so much easier. We use t-posts all over the farm, and as you can see in the picture above our yellow fence post driver is well loved. This will help you get your t-posts in the ground with ease.

Getting Started Making Garden Arch Trellis

After you have gathered your supplies, it’s time for the fun part. First, you will drive your t-posts into the ground making sure they are secure. Then you will round out your PVC to make two arches, and connect each piece of PVC to two of the t-posts with metal fence ties (or whatever you have to secure them in place).

Now, cut your lattice in half lengthwise, and use one long piece (2ft. X 8ft.) to go at the top of your arch, securing with zip ties. Then take the remaining 2ft. X 8 ft. piece of lattice and cut it in half, leaving two 2ft. X 4 ft. pieces. These will be your side pieces. Simply zip tie these to the posts, and the lattice on the top of the arch. And just like that you have a Easy DIY Garden Arch.

I hope this inspires you to spruce up your garden, or find a way to use leftover materials you have laying around. The two raised garden beds on either side of our Arch were also made from repurposed materials from the farm. You will have to check back next Monday to get the details on those.
