Easy Homemade Plum Sauce

Easy Homemade Plum Sauce is the perfect sweet topping. This quick and easy recipe uses fresh plums, and is one of my favorite easy ways to make a quick topping that pairs so well with all kinds of dishes. Keep reading below to find out how I make my Easy Homemade Plum Sauce.

What makes fruit sauces thick?

When berries, apples, and other fruit cook they release pectin, which is a natural thickener. The longer your plums cook, the thicker the sauce will get. If your sauce starts to get too thick, you can thin it out with a splash or two of water.

What adds flavor to Plum Sauce?

Some of my favorite ways to flavor plums for a sauce is to add plenty of sweetener, of course. I also love to add a slash of citrus. My favorite citrus to use is lemon juice. Vanilla flavoring is another great addition to plums. A dash of cinnamon would also spice up your plums.
